Sustainable Eco-creation 3.0

STARTING MARCH 2024 • NØRRE SNEDE • DENMARK

AN interdisciplinary DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

"Sustainable Eco-creation 3.0 is based on 10-15 years of development, training, and experiences through courses, training programs, and extensive dissemination of the subject Sustainable Leadership – Leadership with the heart.

The developmental process is based on the premise that the solution to crises starts with each one of us – that it is the individually responsible and reflective human – leader, employee, consumer, and citizen – who acts from the heart and not just from short-term and rational thinking – which is crucial for understanding and implementing both desirable and necessary changes."

TRANSITIONAL-ProcesSES – WHEN NATURE SHOWS THE WAY

The paradigm shift – the transition – we are in the midst of, is about building a nuanced practice and the corresponding language for personal, social, and global sustainability, which could also be called an eco-mindset. Our current opportunity is to be concurrent with the shift, to understand the language of crises as an expression that something must be different. It is about beginning to connect with some of the central processes in the body and nervous system that constantly attend to the fundamental natural processes within us – also known as bio-markers.

The crises and dysfunctions we see growing before our eyes are closely connected to our loss of contact with nature – the nature within ourselves and the larger nature. This lack of awareness of concrete ecosystem processes is a central aspect of continuing education's systemic training and capacity building in practice.

We need to return to a deeper and more direct connection with our own nature, survival system, and existential values. It is about upgrading the ability to live life in dialogue with challenges – being able to work with inner and outer vulnerability and resistance – elements in the cultivation of robustness and resilience.

The vision could be a person who is a co-creator of a sustainable culture deeply connected to nature, allowing us – in the long run – to become a planet populated by biosphere world citizens.

Living systems are sustainable, when in balance. Adjustments and adaptations (balance) occur through feedback from the inner structures, from the surroundings, and the environment.

ABOUT THE program

Concept & Program

The program is designed as a dynamic blend of physical gatherings and an online program. It is structured in modules with two physical seminars and one online module per year. As an experiment, it is also possible to participate in the program online, either individually or as local groups.

The modules are both independent courses and, at the same time, they build upon each other. Participants can enroll in the entire year-long program or choose to attend one session at a time, continuously along the way. Read More >>

Process Training

We will be working with process approaches from both Theory U and Sustainable Leadership – Leadership from the Heart. The training will include elements from various interdisciplinary fields – leadership, biology, psychology, neurophenomenology, sociology, design, and artistic processes, among others – all areas that illuminate and articulate transition processes and aspects of sustainable organizational development.

PARTICIPATION

The developmental program invites anyone with a personal and/or professional interest in the development of a sustainable society.

The program is well-suited for participants who have an interest in or experience with development and leadership processes in public institutions, private companies, and civil society processes in general.

Participants are expected to be willing to share personal thoughts, feelings, and reflections with other participants and to engage in a committed study group. A prerequisite for participating in the program is the ability to apply and test aspects of the education in relevant professional contexts during the course. Emphasis is placed on participants being self-responsible for both the experiences they bring and those they may encounter along the way.

CORE DOMAINS

Concrete realization, testing, and development of transition processes

The developmental program frames work with concrete prototypes within some of society's core domains: organization & society, trade & production, health & care, science & education, art & creativity.

The intention is to develop prototypes of "eco" structures and to describe community and organizational models that more strongly embody the thread of wholeness – and to seek to "open cracks" within each area and address interdisciplinary and holistic possibilities. More information will follow.

INNER SUSTAINABILITY

Inner sustainability involves a fundamental inner grounding and centering – a commitment to existence – taking responsibility for who one is and, consequently, for who one has become – for better or worse. To live sustainably, one must know how to navigate life, possess an internal compass – the essence of one's deepest experiences, values, and actions – all together providing a sense of direction. It means knowing what one is aiming for and understanding how to take care of oneself.

When a system is far from equilibrium, small islands of coherence can shift the entire system
— Ilya Prigogin

Nature as a Mirror

We explore core values in an ecologically sustainable global society, placing the ecological world citizen in the spotlight within an existential tension between personal responsibility and co-responsibility for the community and the whole. What is the most valuable to me in my life? – and – what is crucial to be mindful of in the community, in nature, on the planet – for the biosphere?

Our currently dominant model of reality is mistaken.
As a result, we badly need to rethink.
— McGilchrist

Sustainable Leadership – Leadership from the Heart

Leadership with the heart has four main focal points, representing a shift from:

  • Organizational and system theories, the external framework, and from there progressing to

  • the inner side of the leadership triangle, meaning the internal maps and tools that the leader relies on.

  • Based on this foundation, the personality is trained to navigate through gear shifts, including recognizing and sensing key aspects of oneself (body/emotions/thoughts/relationships).

  • The fourth element, time, is incorporated as a central factor in clarifying the (life) direction – working with purpose and vision and crystallizing intent.
